Check a Chinese supplier's company code.

Paste the 18-character Unified Social Credit Code from the business licence. You see at once whether it is a valid code, what kind of entity it is and where it was registered. Free, nothing stored.

Before you pay a Chinese supplier

The free decoder catches typos and made-up numbers. The full Chinese supplier check (USD 0.03 a check, by API, MCP or a free trial key) adds the screening an importer needs: EU, UN, UK and US sanctions, the US Entity List and Military End User list, and the UFLPA Entity List, with one verdict.

Questions

What is a Unified Social Credit Code?

Every company registered in mainland China has an 18-character Unified Social Credit Code (统一社会信用代码) on its business licence. It replaced the old business registration, tax and organisation numbers in 2015.

What does the code tell me?

The first character is the registration authority (9 for companies registered with market regulation), the second the entity type, characters 3 to 8 the region where it was registered, then a 9-character organisation code and a check character. A wrong check character means a typo or a made-up number.

Does a valid code prove the company is real?

No. It proves the number is well formed. Look the code up on gsxt.gov.cn, China's official enterprise credit system: the name there must match the invoice and contract exactly.

What does the full check add?

Screening of the company name against the EU, UN, UK and US sanctions lists, the US Entity List and Military End User list, and the UFLPA Entity List of companies whose goods are presumed made with forced labour, with a verdict pass, review or block_review.

Is anything stored?

No. The name and code are checked and dropped. Factline does not fetch or store Chinese register data.
